Business Development in Down District: ‘Beyond'
‘Beyond’ aims to improve the level and quality of business development support to existing local businesses in Down District. The majority of Down District’s nearly 3000 VAT registered businesses are small-scale (under 10 employees) and typically do not qualify for start-up support or other assistance from Invest NI.
With support from Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (DETI) EU Sustainable Competitiveness Programme funding, Down District Council has agreed to fund the 3-year project which is designed to:
- Identify and respond to the needs of existing businesses in the District through support appropriate to :
- Sector
- Size and capacity
- Pattern and focus of growth
- Build a stronger indigenous business support infrastructure, as a key element of Down District Council’s Local Economic Development Strategy
- Prepare for an expanded Local Economic Development support structure expected to be developed under the future new council arrangements.
‘Down to Business’ will complement existing Invest NI programmes such as the Enterprise Development Programme (EDP. DTB will provide support to all sectors of local business, including retail and wholesale sectors.
