BROWN MILLIPEDES

Description

Millipedes are elongated, rounded, worm-like animals with 30 or more pairs of legs; most body segments bear two pairs.  When disturbed they will often curl into a ring.

Habitat

Millipedes are usually found in damp habitats where they are scavengers of dead and decaying plant matter.

Lifecycle

Millipedes can be found to migrate indoor in period of extreme wet or dry weather.

Control

Once in the home they are found in areas of high humidity and dampness, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Millipedes can be controlled by thoroughly cleaning the room as they do not breed indoors, and eradicating any damp spots.

Any cracks or points of entry to the outside should be sealed and any rubbish in the garden removed.

An insecticide dust or spray will help to prevent any further millipedes entering the home.
