Jingle all the way to the recycling bin this Christmas!

Released: 08 December 2011

Down District Council would like to encourage all householders to reduce, reuse and recycle more this Christmas by making full use of the Council’s collection services, the Household Recycling Centres and Community Bring Sites.

How to reduce, reuse and recycle more this Christmas: -

1. Please make full use of the Household Recycling Centre by bringing any cardboard packaging or Christmas trees when you’re finished with them.

2. You can recycle all your glass bottles and jars using the Council’s Community Bring Sites!

4. Bring any waste electricals to the Council’s Household Recycling Centres for for recycling!

5. We throw 7.2 million tonnes of food away every year, why not try using your leftover food in some new recipes. For tips and recipes look at www.lovefoodhatewaste.com

6. Organise a present swap for any unwanted gifts or donate to a local charity shop.

Contamination
Over the holiday period please ensure that any wrapping paper or plastic packaging is placed into your general waste bin. These items cannot be recycled at present. Please also remove any plastic windows from cardboard boxes!
