Your Council is responsible for ensuring the safety of all consumer goods produced, distributed or sold in the District. Most consumer articles are covered by the general safety requirement of the Consumer Safety Act. Some exemptions such as motor vehicles and medicinal products are covered by legislation enforced by the Trading Standards Division of the Department of Economic Development
Down District Council's Environmental Health can offer advice and has access to accredited test laboratories when needed, and the Council has enforcement powers, which can resolve your problem with unsafe or dangerous consumer goods.
