Grounds Maintenance


    The Grounds Maintenance service provided by the Council maintains approx. 115 hectares of land on 250 sites throughout Down District. The tasks carried out by the service include the following: arboriculture, grass cutting, wildflowers, maintenance of sports pitches, maintenance of fine turf areas, maintenance of graveyards and cemeteries, Pitch and Putt course, weed control, hedge cutting and rights of way maintenance.

    The section is also responsible for seasonal bedding, hanging baskets, roses, shrub beds, internal plants and floral decorations. Ice and snow clearance and rodent control on Council property is also the responsibility of this section.
